OCEAN BREEZE / BESPOKE YACHT UPHOLSTERY
Preparing for a boat upholstery refit
Prepare your boat upholstery refit with a numbered cushion inventory, useful photographs, an agreed pattern route and a clear plan for access, collection and fitting.
BESPOKE YACHT UPHOLSTERYBefore removing anything, photograph the complete seating arrangement. Show the spaces between pieces, locker lids, nearby doors and any fittings that affect how the upholstery works. Describe the result you want: a fresh appearance, different support, a new layout or a coordinated interior and exterior scheme.
Number each cushion and keep that number on its photographs, inventory and packaging. Use clear position names such as port aft corner or starboard helm backrest. Left and right alone can become ambiguous once a piece leaves the boat.
Record approximate length, width and depth in millimetres. Note curved edges, tapers and pairs that look similar but are not interchangeable. These notes help the initial discussion; final manufacture requires an agreed pattern and specification.
Build and download your numbered pack ↗Josh will discuss whether the project needs complete cushions, existing covers, supplied pattern material or an onboard assessment. Measurements, physical templates and 3D scanning are selected around the pieces and access available. Keep original parts until the required method is clear.
For fixed seating, identify who will remove, label and reinstall it. Include your captain, designer or yard in the discussion when their work affects access or approvals.
Shortlist fabric, piping and seam details together, then approve physical samples in the setting where the seating will be used. Explain whether it is sheltered or exposed and how it is stored. Ask for the exact collection and care guidance; a brand name alone does not describe every fabric in that brand’s range.
Explore your material direction ↗Confirm the packing method, collection and return address, contact person and access window before dispatch. Keep a copy of the inventory and photographs. Agree how the finished pieces will be checked and fitted, and who is responsible for the final handover.
Tell Josh your preferred launch or refit dates at the start. Timelines follow assessment, material availability and the agreed work; courier collection and manufacture are separate stages.
