01Photograph both configurations+
Show the set as seating and with the table or infill base in its normal berth position. Identify which back cushions move, where extra pieces are added and what remains fixed.
02Trace every join across the berth+
Record the edges that meet and any height differences between adjacent pieces. Describe where gaps, ridges or uneven support are noticeable so Josh can discuss the insert shape and division of the covers.
03Give spare pieces a home+
Measure the normal storage space for infills and loose backs. A proposed thicker insert may improve one arrangement but become awkward to stow or raise the sitting height in the other.

Should a convertible berth use the same foam as a normal seat?
Not automatically. Sitting support, sleeping preference, available depth and the way the pieces meet need to be considered together. The exact specification is agreed for the arrangement.
Can you make only the missing infill?
That can be assessed. Show the adjoining cushions and supporting base, including their condition and finished heights; a single new piece may feel different from compressed older inserts.
