PORTLAND / A PERSONAL UPHOLSTERY BRIEF

Keep your berth and your refit connected.

For a boat berthed or stored in Portland, the brief needs to connect the upholstery work with the vessel’s programme. Share your berth or yard, who can provide access, and any planned move before the pieces return.

THE CRAFT / OCEAN BREEZE UPHOLSTERY

A shaped piece deserves a considered finish.

Look beyond the top panel: adjoining cushions, edge profiles, piping and accessible attachments all belong in the brief. These photographs show genuine Ocean Breeze upholstery, offered as workmanship references for your own specification.

YOUR LOCATION / YOUR PRACTICAL PLAN

Before the pieces leave the boat.

Afloat or ashore?

Tell Josh where the boat will be for measuring and again for fitting. If it is moving, include the change of address and who receives the finished pieces.

Discuss your arrangements

An owner, captain or yard handover

Name one contact for access and one for material approval. For a coordinated yacht refit, list each space separately so the cockpit, flybridge and interior stay aligned.

Discuss your arrangements

Loose cushions or fixed seating

Show how cushions lift out and where fixed backrests or supports remain. Agree which pieces can travel and which details require checking aboard.

Discuss your arrangements

PORTLAND / YOUR UPHOLSTERY BRIEF

Around your berth.
Around your programme.

For a Portland project, tell us whether the vessel is in the water, ashore or moving during the refit. That helps us plan how pieces are measured, removed and returned.

The refit window

Share planned boat movements and your preferred fitting period. An agreed visit can consider the remaining seating, access points and how the new pieces meet existing trim.

The pattern decision

Show curves, joins and underside fixings before taking anything apart. Josh can discuss collecting existing cushions, supplying pattern material or assessing the fit aboard.

The person coordinating access

Name the owner, captain or yard contact who will approve the practical arrangements. Marina access and contractor requirements should be confirmed with the operator before travel.

BEFORE THE FIRST STITCH

The details, answered.

Can you collect cushions without moving the boat?

Yes, suitable removable pieces can be collected from an agreed address. Photograph the arrangement first, number the pieces and agree packing, removal responsibilities and return details with Josh.

Can you make replacement covers using my existing foam?

Existing foam can be assessed for shape, fit and condition. Covers-only work may be appropriate when the support remains sound; collapsed or poorly fitting foam needs a different specification.

Can I choose fabric before requesting a quote?

Use the material studio to shortlist colours and finishes. Physical samples, the exact product and its suitability are confirmed before manufacture. A screen preview is a design aid.

PORTLAND / COLLECTION & ACCESS

Plan around the boat’s actual location.

For a boat in a marina or refit yard, include the berth or yard contact, access arrangements and the date the pieces are needed back. Confirm who can receive, check and fit them if the boat will move before completion. Do not book a collection until the inventory and packing are agreed.
