FLYBRIDGE UPHOLSTERY / CONSIDERED IN DETAIL

One deck.
A connected feeling.

01Treat the deck as a scheme, each cushion as a shape.

Photograph the complete flybridge: seating, backrests, sunpads and any loose cushions. A coordinated finish can connect these areas without making their support profiles identical. Identify the positions used for sitting, reclining and helm access.

Record curved bases, opening lockers and any adjustable seating. Large pieces may need a different removal route from small cushions. Agree who can remove them and photograph accessible fixings before the set is packed.

02Material decisions for the way the deck is used.

Describe which seating stays exposed, which is covered and how the cushions are stored between trips. Compare the exact outdoor collection and physical samples, then agree main panels, piping, accents and any stitching detail.

Discuss foam, border depth, seams, underside construction and fastenings alongside the fabric. A manufacturer’s specification relates to the named material; it does not automatically establish drainage, waterproofing or the performance of the complete cushion.

03Coordinate with the yacht’s programme.

Tell us whether the yacht is afloat or in a yard, who approves samples and whether other refit work will change the bases. Patterns should follow the agreed construction rather than an earlier layout that is about to change.

Josh works with the owner, captain, designer or project contact as appropriate. Agree assessment, approvals, collection, manufacture and fitting responsibilities together. UK and EU cushion logistics can be planned around the vessel’s location, with dates and costs confirmed for the commission.

BEFORE THE FIRST CUT

Your practical questions.

Can seating and sunpads share a coordinated palette?

Yes. Share every zone you want considered. Panel layouts and support profiles can differ while fabrics and finishing details form a connected scheme.

Can my captain or designer manage approvals?

Yes. Identify the project contact and who can approve patterns, material samples and the final specification.

Can you collect from a refit yard?

Provide the address, handover contact, access arrangements and piece count. Collection and return responsibilities are agreed with the project team.

Do all projects require a 3D scan?

No. Josh agrees the appropriate measuring or pattern method around the pieces and access. Scanning is discussed where it is useful.

FLYBRIDGE UPHOLSTERY

One upper deck. One considered scheme.

Bring helm seating, dining cushions and lounging areas into the same conversation, while allowing each piece to do its job.

01Divide the deck

Identify seating, sunpads and loose pieces on one labelled layout. Record locker openings and removable infills before patterns are agreed.

02Consider exposure

Explain how the boat is used and where cushions are stored. Fabric, filling, backing and protective covers are considered together.

03Agree access

Show the route off the flybridge, including stairs or narrow openings. Collection, any onboard work and return fitting need a practical sequence.

Three useful photographs to start with
  1. A wide view of the upper deck
  2. Cushion fixings and hatch clearance
  3. The removal route from deck to quay

You can begin without photographs and send them later. Collection and production dates are agreed separately.
